The Federal Government has intensified efforts to improve electricity supply across the country through a series of transmission and distribution projects aimed at strengthening the national grid and reducing frequent power outages. The initiative forms part of broader reforms designed to support economic growth and improve the quality of life for millions of Nigerians.
Officials in the power sector said several ongoing projects are focused on upgrading aging infrastructure, expanding transmission capacity and connecting more communities to the national grid. They noted that improving the efficiency of the power sector remains critical to achieving the country’s industrialisation goals.
According to industry stakeholders, inadequate transmission infrastructure has long remained one of the major obstacles to stable electricity supply in Nigeria. Consumer advocacy groups urged authorities to ensure that improvements in electricity supply are accompanied by better customer service and transparent billing practices. They argued that many consumers continue to face challenges related to estimated billing despite efforts to increase meter deployment.
Analysts believe that a more reliable power sector could significantly boost economic productivity, attract investment and create employment opportunities. They note that stable electricity remains one of the most important requirements for industrial growth and national development.
