Enugu Police Command Mandates Intelligence-Led Patrols Ahead of Festive Season

Ahead of the impending festive period and the traditional heightened security demands of the ’ember’ months, Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has convened an emergency strategic conference with senior operational leadership to reinforce crime prevention measures across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the high-level interactive conference focused on evaluating current security protocols and aligning field operations to guarantee public safety throughout the final quarter of the year.

The strategic meeting brought together key operational commanders, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and leaders of tactical and specialized operational units.

Addressing the leadership cadre, CP Giwa designated the ’ember’ months as a high-priority operational phase demanding intensified vigilance, intelligence-driven policing, and proactive personnel deployment to disrupt criminal networks.

To achieve total area coverage and crime suppression, the Commissioner directed all supervisory officers to immediately execute the following directives within their jurisdictions:

Enhanced Surveillance: Intensify intelligence gathering, covert operations, and tactical surveillance in known crime flashpoints.

Proactive Deployment: Conduct high-visibility patrols, vehicular stop-and-search operations, and targeted raids on criminal hideouts.

Community Engagement: Foster robust partnerships with community stakeholders, traditional institutions, and local vigilance groups.

Human Rights Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to fundamental human rights, constitutional standards, and professional codes of conduct during all operations.

Assuring residents, travelers, and investors of the Command’s operational readiness, CP Giwa emphasized that maintaining public order remains a collaborative endeavor, urging the public to maintain vigilance and continue sharing actionable intelligence with law enforcement agencies.
