NBA SURULERE BRANCH ELECTIONS: ENCBA SET TO SCREEN CANDIDATES.

The NBA Committee charged with the 2026 NBA Surulere Executive Committee elections are set for the screening of candidates for various posts in the elections. Announcing the guidelines for screening in a release signed by the Secretary Mrs Uju Nwonwu, the Committee noted that the screening would hold on Friday 5th June 2026 between 10am and 5pm as earlier announced. The release however announced a change of venue from the earlier announced venue to the new venue at Foresters Hall, No 23 Babatunde Street, Surulere, Lagos.

It would be recalled that during the monthly meeting of the branch on 20th May, the Election Committee revealed that the elections into the Executive committee would hold on Friday 26th June between 10am and 3pm at the monthly general meeting venue. The Chairperson of the Committee Prof F. E. Nlerum who addressed members of the Branch noted that the elections would fill ten (10) positions in the branch including the Chairman, Vice chairman, Secretary, Assistant secretary, social secretary and Treasurer among others. According to the election timetable, sale and submission of nomination forms would end on 4th June 2026 thus paving way for screening of candidates on the 5th of June 2026.

The rules and guidelines for the elections are pursuant to Sections 16, 14 and 6 of the NBA uniform bye-laws for branches in the third schedule of the NBA constitution 2025. As the Anene Nwadukwe-led Executive Committee gradually wind down their constitutional 2-year term having been elected in 2024 as the pioneer Executives of the Branch, it is expected that the Election Committee would do a resounding job and usher in a new Executive Committee for the branch in a rancour free poll.
