Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has assured bandits willing to renounce violence that the state government is ready to support their reintegration into society if they genuinely embrace peace.
Radda made the appeal on Thursday during the inauguration of 152 housing units constructed for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
The governor urged those involved in banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes to lay down their arms and return to their communities, stressing that the government remains open to dialogue, repentance and rehabilitation.
According to him, individuals who abandon criminal activities and choose the path of peace would have access to opportunities designed to help them rebuild their lives through lawful and productive means.
Radda said the housing project, which was launched in October 2024, was executed through a partnership between the Katsina State Government and development partners to provide shelter and support for families displaced by insecurity.
He explained that the intervention went beyond housing, adding that it included the construction of a Climate Peace Entrepreneurship Centre, solar mini-grid electrification, a veterinary clinic, market stalls, VIP toilets at the cattle market, rehabilitation of the cattle loading ramp, and the provision of potable water and street lighting.
The governor noted that security in Jibia had improved considerably in recent years, enabling many farmers to return to their farmlands and contributing to increased agricultural production and economic activities in the area.
He expressed optimism that ongoing security efforts and development initiatives would further strengthen peace and stability across affected communities in the state.

Radda also acknowledged the contributions of development partners, including United Nations Development Programme, the German Government through GIZ and the Norwegian Government, noting that sustained collaboration remains critical to addressing insecurity, displacement and poverty.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities while pursuing both security and development strategies aimed at restoring normalcy and improving the welfare of residents across Katsina State.
