President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians and businesses to fulfil their tax obligations, saying improved tax compliance is critical to funding infrastructure and sustaining national development.
The President said government requires adequate revenue to deliver quality roads, bridges and other public facilities capable of driving economic growth and improving the living standards of citizens.
Tinubu made the appeal while inaugurating the completed Arterial Road N5, also known as Obafemi Awolowo Way, linking Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III in Abuja. He was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima
Addressing residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory, the President urged them to pay their taxes, ground rents and other statutory charges promptly, stressing that public infrastructure can only be sustained through responsible civic participation.
He noted that while governments are expected to provide essential infrastructure and services, citizens also have a responsibility to support development through tax compliance.
According to him, consistent payment of taxes would strengthen government revenue and accelerate the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the country.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to expanding infrastructure as part of efforts to stimulate economic growth, improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life of Nigerians.
