Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, OFR, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the former Military Administrator of the old Imo State, Maj.-Gen. Ike Omar Sanda Nwachukwu (rtd), on the occasion of his 86th birthday.
Maj.-Gen. Nwachukwu has served Nigeria in numerous key roles throughout his career, including as Minister of Labour and Productivity, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and as the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, by the Chief Press Secretary, Ctz Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, Governor Otti described Senator Nwachukwu as a source of pride, a beacon of service, and a shining example of a life devoted to duty, honor, and community. He noted that the retired general’s wise counsel remains invaluable to the unity, peace, and progress of Abia State and Nigeria as a whole.
The Governor highlighted that, at 86, Nwachukwu continues to embody discipline, wisdom, patriotism, and selfless service while mentoring generations of future leaders
