Renowned peace advocate and environmental rights campaigner, Chief Sheriff Mulade (PhD), has officially launched his campaign for the Warri Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 general elections under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The official flag-off and consultation meeting, held in Warri on August 27, 2026, brought together stakeholders, supporters, and leaders across the constituency’s three primary ethnic groups—Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo.
Mulade, who holds the traditional title of Ibe-Sorimowei of the oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom and serves as the National Coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), declared that the 2027 contest would be defined by capacity, competence, and a genuine commitment to public service.
Addressing attendees, the candidate lamented that despite the constituency’s massive economic contributions to the federation through oil and gas production, local communities have suffered decades of developmental neglect.
“Warri Federal Constituency has been deprived of meaningful development, empowerment, and federal attention due to a lack of quality representation,” Mulade stated. “If elected into the House of Representatives, Warri City and its environs will be given the special attention they deserve through constructive advocacy and strategic engagement.”
His legislative agenda focuses on:
Infrastructure & Maritime Economy: Advocating federal support for the revitalization of the Warri and Koko Seaports and the Warri Industrial Park.
Youth & Female Empowerment: Attracting targeted investments in agriculture, commercial fisheries, and vocational skill acquisition centers.
Inter-Ethnic Peace: Promoting cross-cultural collaboration among the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo ethnic groups to ensure sustainable regional security.
The event also featured declarations from other party flag-bearers, including Hon. Nathan Esiri Osume for Delta Central Senatorial District and Hon. Kingsley Abugewa for the Okpe/Sapele Federal Constituency.

Supporters at the launch cited Mulade’s long-standing track record of community intervention, environmental justice activism, and conflict resolution as clear indicators of his readiness to provide effective representation in the Green Chamber.
