Electricity distribution company, Ikeja Electric Plc, has attributed the reduced hours of electricity supply across its network to a shortfall in the amount of power allocated to it from the national grid.
The power distribution company disclosed this in a public notice posted via its X page on Monday.
In the notice, signed by its management, the company said the development was responsible for the reduced hours of supply customers had experienced.
It stated, “We wish to inform customers across Ikeja Electric network that the reduced hours of electricity supply is due to a shortfall in the amount of power currently allocated to our network from the national grid.”
The DisCo acknowledged the inconvenience the situation might cause customers and appealed for their understanding.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding,” the notice read.
Ikeja Electric also said it was working with relevant stakeholders to improve the available power supply.
“Please be assured that we are actively engaging the relevant stakeholders to improve the available power supply and will continue to distribute the power received from the grid as efficiently and equitably as possible,” it added.

The company further promised to keep customers informed as the situation evolved.
Punch Online had earlier reported in March 2026 that the company had also attributed the reduction in electricity supply to a nationwide decline in power generation caused by limited gas supply to thermal power plants.
