A Lagos based Criminal Justice reforms Non-Governmental Organization Zarephath Aid has decried the colossal negative effect cultism and criminal gangs have exerted in the society urging the Government to act before it is too late.
Speaking on the series titled; ‘The rise and spread of cultism’ (part 2) during its weekly podcast, CRIMINAL JUSTICE FOCUS, Ben Abraham, a legal practitioner and the Founder ZAREPHATH AID indicated that cult related activities have been on the increase noting that unless a clear strategy to deal with it is carved out, an increasing number of youth and teenagers would end up in the bind.
Using the recent experience of what transpired in one of the correctional centres as an outline, the NGO emphasized that cultism had gone beyond the pre-independence gathering of college students with a mission to check societal ills.
