Security operatives in Oyo State have rescued a kidnapped victim following a fierce gun battle with suspected abductors during a coordinated operation in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.
The operation was carried out by officers of the Oyo State Police Command alongside local security groups after intelligence reports revealed the movement of suspected kidnappers within the area.
According to security sources, the victim was abducted by armed men who later moved the person to a hideout before security operatives tracked their location and launched a rescue mission.
The development reportedly led to an exchange of gunfire between the police team and the suspected kidnappers during the operation.
Three suspected kidnappers were killed during the confrontation, while the victim was rescued alive and safely evacuated from the scene.
Security operatives also recovered weapons and other items believed to have been used by the criminal gang in carrying out their operations.
Residents of the affected community described the rescue as a major relief amid growing concerns over rising cases of kidnapping and attacks in rural communities across the state.
The Oke-Ogun axis has witnessed recurring security challenges in recent months, with travelers and villagers frequently targeted by armed gangs operating around forests and isolated settlements.

Following the operation, security patrols were intensified across surrounding areas as authorities continued efforts to track down fleeing members of the gang.
Police authorities assured residents that sustained operations against kidnappers, armed robbers, and other violent criminals would continue across Oyo State in a bid to strengthen security and restore public confidence.
