Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said the ongoing reconstruction of the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt will be completed and ready for use by the first quarter of 2027.

The governor made this known on Monday after inspecting the multi-storey structures located in the Old GRA area of the state capital.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the inspection was carried out to assess the level of progress on the rehabilitation project.
Speaking after the tour, Fubara expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, particularly the progress recorded on the interior sections of the complex.
“We just did a tour of the renovation of the Secretariat… I wanted to really confirm how much work is going on, most importantly, the inside,” the governor said.
He added that, based on the current level of work, the project would be delivered by the first quarter of next year, expressing confidence that it would be completed as scheduled.
The Rivers State Secretariat Complex, originally constructed in the 1970s following the creation of the state in 1967, remains one of the most prominent government facilities in Port Harcourt.
The complex comprises several high-rise structures, including the 17-storey Point Block, the 10-storey Podium Block, and three additional seven-storey buildings known as Blocks A, B and C.
The ongoing renovation is aimed at modernising the facility through structural rehabilitation, upgraded utilities, improved office spaces, and the installation of modern infrastructure.
The state government says the revamped complex will provide a more efficient, technology-driven and conducive working environment for civil servants across Rivers State.
