An Ado Ekiti Magistrate Court has remanded an candidate, Ayodele Babatola, over an alleged rape case in Ado Constituency I.
Babatola was arrested by the following allegations by a 30-year-old woman, Bukola Oluwaseun, who accused him of forcing her into sexual intercourse at KIIBAT Hotel in on May 24.
Police spokesperson, DSP Sunday Abutu, disclosed that the complainant reported sustaining injuries, which officers reportedly observed when the matter was brought before the police.
According to Abutu, the suspect was invited for questioning after the complaint was filed, while the matter was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
The police spokesperson added that a medical examination conducted during the investigation allegedly confirmed penetration.
However, Babatola denied raping the woman, although he reportedly admitted leaving her in the hotel room and cutting off communication afterwards.

The suspect was said to have told investigators that he became angry after the woman allegedly demanded payment before engaging in sexual activity.
Following his arraignment, the court ordered that Babatola be remanded at the Correctional Service Centre in Ado Ekiti pending further proceedings in the case.
Meanwhile, the arrest triggered protests by members of the ADC on Wednesday, with some party supporters describing the case as politically motivated.
A party chieftain, , alleged that Babatola was being targeted because of his criticism of the Ekiti State Government.
Aribisogan also accused the police Rapid Response Squad of using remand warrants as a tool to intimidate opposition figures and government critics within the state.
The police authorities, however, have maintained that the matter is strictly criminal and remains under investigation.
