Afenifere Knocks Tinubu Over Hardship, Insecurity, Rising Poverty

Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation has criticised the administration of President , alleging that Nigeria has witnessed worsening poverty, insecurity, and economic hardship since he assumed office three years ago.

The group made its position known in a statement titled, “Tinubu’s Third Year Report: Summum Malum or Summum Bonum,” signed by its leader, , and the organisation’s National Publicity Secretary, .

According to Afenifere, the current administration has failed to improve the welfare and security of Nigerians, accusing the government of presiding over worsening unemployment, kidnappings, and violent attacks across the country.

The group argued that the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda had instead deepened economic hardship, insecurity, and public frustration.

Afenifere maintained that the essence of governance is to guarantee citizens security, prosperity, and stability, stressing that many Nigerians now live in fear because of increasing violence and harsh economic realities.

The organisation also expressed concern over the growing wave of kidnappings and killings in several parts of the country, including attacks targeting communities, students, and teachers.
It blamed the deteriorating security situation partly on what it described as the government’s failure to restructure the nation’s security architecture through the establishment of state and community policing.

The group further alleged that insecurity had continued to spread across various regions under successive administrations of the .

Afenifere urged the Federal Government to urgently address the worsening insecurity and economic difficulties confronting Nigerians, warning that frustration among citizens was steadily increasing.

The group insisted that without decisive action, the country could face deeper social and economic tensions in the coming years.
