The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. (Prince) Sikiru Adetona Ayedun, has condemned recent incidents of political violence and alleged attacks on residents and political opponents in parts of Osun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ayedun described the reported acts of intimidation, harassment and violence as unacceptable, stressing that such actions have no place in a democratic society.
He noted that democracy thrives on healthy competition, mutual respect and the free expression of political choices, adding that political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and the ballot box rather than through violence.
According to the ADC candidate, Osun State has long been known for its peaceful coexistence, rich cultural heritage and hardworking citizens, warning that no political ambition should be allowed to undermine the peace and stability of the state.
“The people of Osun State have witnessed enough politics characterised by division, fear and hostility. No political ambition should be allowed to threaten the peace and stability our people have worked tirelessly to maintain,” he said.
Ayedun reaffirmed the commitment of the ADC to peace, justice, security and inclusive governance, noting that the party remains dedicated to protecting the rights of all citizens regardless of their political affiliations.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of future elections, he called on residents, community leaders, youth groups, security agencies and other stakeholders to reject violence and support efforts aimed at promoting harmony and democratic values.
He also urged political actors to conduct their activities responsibly, place the interests of the people above partisan considerations and work collectively to ensure that Osun State remains a model of peaceful democratic participation and sustainable development.
